Allusion Analysis 19-29
This analysis is simple as can be. The entire book is an allusion. The book is constructed of what Cisneros can remember from her time in the house on Campbell Street; a street with a name rhyming with mango, and a house identical to that in the book. Esperanza Cordero is the main character in the book, and Cordero was Cisneros' mother's last name. There's a store on Milwaukee Avenue similar to one in the book, also on Milwaukee Avenue. The size of Esperanza's family is similar to that of Cisneros' family. Both Esperanza and Cisneros grew up in Chicago.
