Theme Analysis 19-29
The House on Mango Street is a coming of age novel, as it revolves around Esperanza Cordero's journey from adolescence to adulthood and all of the joys and heartaches that come with it. I'm afraid that I am unable to make a proper explanation as I am limited to using source material only from my designated selection of pages. I can, however point out that the citation-less description on the back of the book cover describes it as a "coming of age" classic. It goes on to state that "Esperanza's story is that of a young girl coming into her power, and inventing for herself what she will become.".
