3-17 Connection
The reason that this image is my choice of real-world images is this; It is the real House on Mango Street, and almost nothing of any significance that can be connected to an image actually occurs in the first 17 pages. The house is has the same number of windows, color, and general feel to it as the house in the book. The house is small and cramped, just as the house in the book is and the family's lives are. The house in the picture is in fact the house that Cisneros spent her middle and high school years, and though it may be on Campbell street, the house, along with Cisneros' scattered memories of her life there are the origins of this book. Apparently, the store on Milwaukee Avenue is also nearby to the house, just as it is in the book. I realize that this explanation is sort of stretching things but I have been given very little to work with with this first section.
